I got my funny cap in The Gambia during a brief holiday to Banjul in October 2000. We found a market of small shacks selling stuff on the beach and this item caught my eye.

In the many years and African markets since, I have always thought I would find another one someday. But billed caps are simply not de mode in Afrique, and I have yet to find a replacement for this crucial item of wardrobe.

Meanwhile this one is getting awfully sweat-crusted, faded, and tattered. Especially as it is now my main headgear for bicycling!
