beyond the baobab...
Classic African landscape near Wonougba village, Togo. A rocky knoll along the path to the river provided this elevated view of the surrounding countryside. One may think to linger meditatively at such a place, enjoying the open terrain and tangible spaciousness of African horizons. But a soft white Northerner will not long withstand the relentless searing radiation of an unyielding equatorial sun. I am a stinking sticky mass of wet and dried sweat at this point, and all I really crave is some shade and cool water. Togo, April 2007. Rolleiflex T, Fomapan 400. |
