It's Saturday afternoon and the men groom themselves for a special feast of pork later in the evening, promised by the landowner as a reward for their hard day's work in the fields. The barbering is done by scraping a plain double-edged razorblade close to the scalp, the razor held tightly by thumb against the side of a comb. The shearing proceeds quickly, efficiently, without use of water or lubricant.
