Clay pots filled with dirt provide little islands of jungly abundance.

As in Portland many of our plants are grown in containers. The reason here, though, has less to do with whimsy than with soil conditions. The ground around our quarter in Lomé is mostly sand, deposited over time by wind and wave and man from the Atlantic beaches nearby.
