Our excursions around Barcelona were informed by thoughts and scenes from the novel we were reading at the time, The Shadow of the Wind, by Carlos Ruiz Zafón. The story is set in Barcelona during the 1950s and the darkness of the Franco era. It is an epic tale of love, mystery, and enduring evil.

Although we were never privileged to find the "cemetery of forgotten books", our walks around Montjuic were haunted by the stirring of memories not quite forgotten.
